Community Newsgroups

Data Access Worldwide provides an electronic area for community peer support via our Internet newsgroups.

We have a private newsgroup server (news.dataaccess.com) hosted at the Miami headquarters office on a dedicated T1. Since we run our newsgroups as private newsgroups, you will need to connect directly to our news server to read our groups. If you are using a dedicated newsgroup reader, you should be able to set the news server to "news.dataaccess.com" and then choose to "subscribe" to newsgroups. See below for a list of newsgroups that we host. We do not have public newsgroups so you won’t see our groups in the standard usenet list (which is why you need to point to our private news server rather than being able to find our groups using your ISP’s news server).

Note: you may not have downloaded the newsreader that comes with your browser. For example, if you downloaded Netscape but didn’t download the collabra component, you won’t have a newsreader. Luckily, you can download Netscape, Internet Explorer, or a host of other free browser/newsreaders. Just visit netscape.com or microsoft.com and follow the links to the browsers or search on www.yahoo.com for alternative browsers and newsreaders.

An easy way to jump directly into a newsgroup on our server is to use one of the URLs below in your browser. For example, open up your browser and enter: news://news.dataaccess.com/dataflex and press return.

Use WASP to search the Community Newsgroups Free
WASP (Web Application Search Page) allows developers to search existing content (posts) in the Data Access Worldwide Community Newsgroups quickly and efficiently using a Web browser interface.

WASP is a free service, developed and provided by Sture Anderson of Sture ApS in Denmark. WASP was developed using Visual DataFlex 9.1. Read more about how WASP works and how to use it here.
