Crystal Reports XI - Release Status Update |
Crystal Reports is the world's leading reporting solution that
helps customers rapidly create flexible, feature-rich,
high-fidelity reports and tightly integrate them into web and
windows applications. Data Access Worldwide will begin accepting
back orders for Crystal Reports XI from customers who do not
require the Crystal Reports for DataFlex Connectivity Kit next
week. Please
contact us for Crystal Reports
XI pricing.
Business Objects has included a number of changes to the Crystal
Reports API that affect the Crystal Reports for DataFlex
Connectivity Kit. Customers who require the complete Crystal
Reports for DataFlex solution, which includes the Crystal
Reports for DataFlex connectivity driver that enables reporting
on embedded DataFlex databases will be able to purchase Crystal
Reports with the DataFlex Connectivity Kit as soon as these
changes have been implemented.

What's New in Crystal Reports XI
New to Crystal Reports XI are improved productivity
features allowing you and your end users to experience
high quality viewing, printing and exporting with less
effort. This release also includes a new edition, Crystal
Reports Server, designed for departmental enterprise
reporting.
Updated
report designer
Accelerate report authoring with an updated
point-and-click designer, new report workbench, nested
hierarchies, "intelligent" charting, and HTML report
preview.
Dynamic
cascading prompts
Minimize report maintenance with automatically updated
pick lists and cascading prompts.
Updated
drivers
Access updated XML, JDBC, IBM DB2 and Exchange data
drivers.
Intelligent
charting
Create charts faster. New drag-and-drop charting and
cross-tabs allow for intelligent charting. Because
variables are approximated when a chart is dropped into a
section, chart design is now faster, easier, and updated
automatically.
Report
export configuration
Enjoy more user-friendly exporting. The report designer
can save export configuration information within the
report itself-end-users don't have to reconfigure the
export each time a report is run.

Pervasive.SQL Connectivity Kit 3.0 Beta Available |
The Pervasive.SQL
Connectivity Kit 3.0 Beta has been released and is now available
for public beta testing.
The main focus of this new revision is to support the security
features in Pervasive.SQL V8.5 (and 8.6). Be sure to read the
"Database Mode and Security" chapter of the User's Guide for
complete information. In addition to supporting secure PSQL
databases, the 3.0 revision includes the following changes, and
more:
There
are no longer separate revisions of the Connectivity Kit for V8
and prior revisions of Pervasive.SQL. The 3.0 CK is supported on
all revisions of Pervasive.SQL from 2000i though V8.6. Note: We
are currently testing this revision with PSQL V9 to insure
complete compatibility.
Full
paths are no longer stored in the DDFs.
The
CK will default to the highest performance settings unless
otherwise specified in the dfbtrdrv.int file.
We encourage
developers who are currently using this Connectivity Kit to
download the Beta release and test it with your existing
applications. By participating in the Beta testing program, you
can help to ensure that we deliver the best software possible!

Special Notes:
All questions and comments about the Pervasive.SQL Connectivity
Kit 3.0 Beta should be posted in the Data Connectivity newsgroup
at:
news://news.dataaccess.com/archive.data-connectivity
Revision 3.0 requires new registration codes - do not attempt to
apply a 1.x or 2.x code. The beta release will automatically
install the appropriate 3.x evaluation code, even if this
overwrites existing registration files from a prior release.
Due to a bug in Pervasive.SQL version 8.5 and 8.6 the restructure
logic will copy all records two times during restructure of a PSQL
table. This will only happen when running in Database_Mode _and_
running on Pervasive.SQL 8.5 or 8.6. The bug has been fixed by
Pervasive and will be available in an upcoming revision of
Pervasive.SQL. There is also a patch (FTF) available that will
solve the issue for Pervasive.SQL 8.6. If the FTF fix is
installed, the version of Pvsw\Bin\Ntmkde.dll (Windows) or
nwmkde.nlm (Netware) must be 8.60.196.3 or later. The Connectivity
Kit will detect if the FTF is installed and will use the normal
logic (copy once) during restructure.
