Visual
DataFlex community abuzz over October events |
The
month of October saw two major Visual DataFlex
community events take place, and VDF developers
worldwide are once again quite pleased with
the learning and sharing that characterize
these peer-oriented conferences.
"Meet
Me in St. Louis," hosted by the VDF-Midwest
Developers User Group, took place on October
1-2 in St. Louis, Missouri, and EDUC 2004,
hosted by the European DataFlex Users Conference,
was held in Cambridgeshire, England on October
6-8.
"Meet
Me in St. Louis"
This year's "Meet Me in St. Louis"
conference featured DAW CTO John Tuohy presenting
on Web Services in Visual DataFlex, as well
as presentations by top developers about application
development and the Visual DataFlex framework.
"Loved
the Web-Services final product John [Tuohy]
showed us. Also, the latest Ver10.X is looking
great. Speaking of Web-Service, Jasper Engines
had an excellent use they demonstrated.
They showed us a use that wouldn't jump
out at you at first. It demonstrated how
to put a monster application on a server
to eliminate the need to install the app
on all clients. The clients used a Web-Service
call to get what they needed from the server.
Good thinking Jasper." Tony Mackay.
Anasazi Software
"The
meetings were great ... as always. Especially
the various 'show and tells'
The practical
application demos were very informative
maybe its just because the meeting is maturing
and we all understand VDF better, but the
demos seemed more informal ... showing off
how well VDF satisfies diverse needs."
Bob Stearns, LowCountry Billing
"Seriously,
it was great. We need to concentrate on making
this a larger event... It was great to see
all the things you can accomplish with VDF,
and the people there to help you do it. For
anyone who hasn't come to a conference before,
you've got to get here next year." David
Martinko, Redeemed Software

EDUC
2004
In
the United Kingdom, this year's EDUC
2004 also featured Mr. Tuohy demonstrating
how Visual DataFlex's improvements in
work flow can really benefit developer
productivity, and how Visual DataFlex
makes developing web application and
web services an easy, integral component
of total "Internet aware"
application development.
Other
EDUC 2004 presentations ranged from
the handling the upgrading of legacy
character mode/Unix and Linux sites
to VDF and the Web to a look at how
a developer might extend their applications
to the new opportunities represented
by the growing field of PDAs and mobile
connectivity devices in general.
I would like to congratulate you
and everyone at Asckey for the magnificent
job you have done at EDUC2004. It
has been a pleasure to meet you all
and I must say I had a great time
over there." Pepe Guimarães

offering, the only available upgrade option for
5-user license customers was to purchase a 10-user
license.

2-User Upgrade Price : RRP $220.00
DAAP Special Developer Discount Price: $140.00 ex
GST
Restrictions and Upgrade Pricing
