Curacao "picture perfect" for Visual DataFlex developer meeting

The beautiful island of Curacao provided a brilliant setting for the attendees of the "Meet Me in St. Louis - Destination Curacao" conference that was recently held for Visual DataFlex developers from around the globe.

"Let me start by saying that the conference was a resounding success!" says Shelley Ann Davis, TSL Group's Senior Developer from Newtown, Trinidad & Tobago. "The Avila Beach Hotel was a wonderful location which provided the meeting rooms as well as access to a great beach, delicious food, good music and restaurants within the same location… I will be one of the first to sign up for the next one."

Sun, sea and beach weren't the only treasures found in Curacao, however, as the conference once again delivered a rich agenda of useful tips, techniques and information to assist Visual DataFlex business solution developers in delivering world-class products and services to their customers.

Data Access Worldwide's senior developer Eddy Kleinjan demonstrated the striking new features and capabilities included in Visual DataFlex 12 (currently in Beta), generating quite a bit of excitement among developers. Mr. Kleinjan also gave an introduction to AJAX and demonstrated the features of this emerging technology, as well as a VDF-based framework for using it.

Data Access Worldwide's President Chip Casanave outlined the company's plans for a new "Express Connectivity" option for developers leveraging these new versions of popular SQL DBMS', as well as plans for a new, free "Personal" edition of Visual DataFlex that will enable a new generation of developers extended time to explore what makes VDF fast and easy, and to learn how to effectively build and deploy quality business solutions.

Nick Nikijuluw, Managing Director of Data Access Europe, showed what's new in the next revision of Electos, including an improved interface and usability and feature upgrades.

A multitude of other topics were also explored in Curacao, including software for VDF source code management, MS-SQL connectivity, interfacing Visual DataFlex with Quicken software, techniques for better security, and more.

Visual DataFlex powers Benelux Racing League

Developers are used to hearing about how Visual DataFlex powers business successes around the world, but not often is Visual DataFlex featured as powering a high performance racecar!

Okay, to be honest, it's only the Visual DataFlex logo that's riding along on driver Niels Bouwhuis's racecar in the Benelux Racing League (BRL) v-6 event recently held at circuit Zandvoort in The Netherlands.

This past weekend Data Access Europe sponsored the BRL's 8th race event in 2006, adding the prestige of Visual DataFlex to the power of European auto racing!
